Proper Preparation Starts Below the Surface

Long-lasting concrete depends on much more than the finished surface. Black Stag Concrete Co. LLC focuses on the preparation work that helps concrete perform through Park City’s freeze-thaw cycles, snow, runoff, soil movement, and changing seasonal conditions.

For many flatwork projects, proper installation may require approximately nine inches of excavation to create room for the concrete slab and four to five inches of compacted road base. The exact depth depends on the soil, drainage, intended use, and project requirements. The base is compacted thoroughly, often in multiple stages, to reduce settling, low spots, and movement beneath the slab.

Grading and drainage are also carefully planned to direct water away from homes, garages, foundations, and surrounding structures. These hidden details are critical because once the concrete is poured, homeowners can no longer see the excavation depth, base preparation, or compaction beneath it.

Reinforcement, Placement, and Finishing

Black Stag Concrete Co. LLC uses proper reinforcement based on the size, load, and intended use of the project. Many flatwork installations include a fully tied rebar mat to improve strength and help hold the slab together as it responds to temperature changes and ground movement.

Forms are precisely installed to establish the layout, slab thickness, elevations, and drainage slope. Concrete is then placed, consolidated, leveled, and finished with careful attention to joints, edges, transitions, and surface consistency. Proper control joints help manage natural shrinkage and movement, while correct curing supports strength development and long-term durability.

We also specialize in custom concrete finishes, including colored concrete, exposed aggregate, stamped concrete, broom finishes, smooth finishes, and premium sealing. These options improve the appearance of driveways, patios, walkways, sport courts, garage floors, pool decks, stairs, landings, RV pads, and other concrete surfaces.

Engineering-Based Concrete Built for Northern Utah

Black Stag Concrete Co. LLC combines more than 10 years of hands-on experience with a formal Construction Engineering background. This gives our team a deeper understanding of load requirements, drainage, reinforcement, soil conditions, structural performance, and long-term durability.

We apply these fundamentals to flatwork and structural concrete projects throughout Park City, Summit County, Wasatch County, Salt Lake County, and communities along the Wasatch Front. Our services include driveways, patios, walkways, garage floors, sport courts, footings, foundation walls, retaining walls, monolithic garage pads, shed pads, and other residential and light commercial concrete applications.

Rather than focusing only on how the concrete looks on installation day, we focus on the hidden work that helps it continue performing for years. Call today to schedule a free consultation with Black Stag Concrete Co. LLC.
